History of Heritage Park

Heritage Park is a well-known botanical garden in Grapevine, Texas. The garden was founded in 1978 and has since grown to more than 40 acres of landscaped gardens and outdoor exhibits. Heritage Park is home to more than 2,000 varieties of plants, including many rare and endangered species.
The park’s history dates back to the 1800s, when grapevines were planted along the banks of the Trinity River. In 1978, a group of citizens formed the Heritage Park Foundation to preserve and promote the natural resources of the park. The foundation purchased 20 acres of land and began planning and planting the garden. The original goal was to create an educational facility that would showcase Grapevine’s rich botanical heritage.

Today, Heritage Park is a popular destination for visitors from all over North Texas and beyond. The gardens are open daily from 9:00am until 5:00pm (weather permitting), and admission is free.
